Reverse osmosis (RO) is a drinking-water system that sits under the kitchen sink and gives you filtered water from its own faucet. It's for the water you drink and cook with. The Softener Guy LLC installs RO systems for homes and small businesses in Canal Fulton, Massillon, North Canton, Jackson Township, and nearby towns.
Why people add reverse osmosis
- You buy bottled water and would rather not
- Your tap water has a taste or smell you don't like
- You want cleaner water for coffee, cooking, and ice
- A water test showed things you'd like to filter out of your drinking water
How it works
Tap water is pushed through a very fine membrane. Water passes through, and a large share of dissolved contaminants is held back and rinsed away. Pre-filters in front of the membrane catch sediment and protect it. The filtered water is stored in a small tank so it's ready when you open the RO faucet.
Start with a free in-home water test
Every job starts with a free water test at your house. We look at what's in your water so we know how an RO system will fit with anything else in the house, like a softener or iron filter. We explain the results in plain words and only recommend what your water actually needs.
What install looks like
The system mounts under the kitchen sink, and a separate drinking-water faucet goes on the sink or countertop. We hook it up, check for leaks, and show you how to use it.
Upkeep
The membrane is straightforward to maintain. The pre-filters get changed on a schedule, and the membrane less often. Mark the dates on a calendar so nothing sits past its time.
Common questions
- Does RO treat the whole house?
- No. RO is for drinking and cooking water at one faucet. For the whole house, we look at softeners, carbon filtration, or iron filters depending on your test.
- Can I have RO with a softener?
- Yes. They work well together: the softener handles hardness for the house and the RO handles drinking water.
